Overview

These tips help put candidates at ease and reduce uncertainty before they face a one-way video interview — leading to a higher completion rate.

Before anything: set expectations

Make sure candidates know, ahead of time:
  • How many questions the interview has
  • How long it will take to answer them all
  • How much time (days/hours) they have to complete the interview
This information should show up in tips 1, 2, and/or 3 below.

Tips, from highest to lowest impact

Impact may vary depending on the nature of the job position.
1

Quick warm-up call

Make a 1-minute call with candidates before they receive the invitation email from Hireflix, covering the points above.
2

Send your own email

Send your own email before the Hireflix invitation email, with content similar to the warm-up call. See our example candidate emails for ideas.
3

Personalize the Hireflix email template

Modify the templates you get when you create your account. Write in a way that prepares and motivates candidates for what they’ll face before and during the interview. Learn how to create and customize templates.
4

Warn about spam

Send an SMS warning that the invitation email might land in spam — emails to Hotmail and Outlook accounts currently tend to end up there. Learn how to set up reminders.
5

Use reminders

Combine email and SMS to invite and remind candidates — for example, an SMS reminder 24 hours after the invitation is sent. Learn how to set up reminders.
