Connect your AI tool to Hireflix with the MCP

What is this?

The Hireflix MCP server at https://mcp.hireflix.com/mcp connects your AI tool of choice directly to your Hireflix account. Once connected, it can look up and manage your positions, candidates, interviews, and webhooks for you. Just ask in plain English.

You don’t need an API key. You sign in with your Hireflix account, and your AI tool works with your current permissions, so it can only see and do what you can in the dashboard. If you use Claude, that also makes the MCP simpler to set up than the Claude skill, because you don’t have to allow any websites in your settings.

Quick path:

1. Check your plan: make sure your AI tool’s plan supports custom MCP servers.
2. Connect your AI tool: add the MCP URL, sign in to Hireflix, and allow access.
3. Try it out: ask a first question, then use the example prompts.

Supported AI tools

We’ve tested the Hireflix MCP with these AI tools:

AI tool	Plan you need	Good to know
Claude	Any plan	On the free plan, you can only add one custom connector. If you’ve already added another one, remove it first or upgrade your Claude plan.
ChatGPT / Codex	Business, Enterprise, or Edu	You need one of these plans to both read and write through the MCP. See OpenAI’s guide to custom MCP servers for details.

Using something else? Any AI tool that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth should be able to connect with the same URL, but we haven’t tested other tools yet.

Available tools

Once connected, your AI tool can use these Hireflix tools:

Webhooks	List, create, and remove webhooks
Schema tools	Introspect, search, validate, and execute queries against the full Hireflix GraphQL schema

Not everything you can do in Hireflix has its own tool. Fetching interview transcriptions, for example, isn’t in the list above. That’s what the schema tools are for: your AI tool uses introspect and search to look through the full GraphQL schema Hireflix provides, finds the query it needs, and runs it with execute. So if you ask for something without a dedicated tool, it can usually still do it.

Connect your AI tool

Choose your AI tool and follow the steps.

Claude

1. Open your connector settings

   In Claude, click your account name and open Settings. Click Customize in the left menu and open the Connectors tab. Then click the Add button in the top right and choose Add custom connector.

   
2. Enter a name and the MCP URL

   Name the connector Hireflix and enter the MCP server URL:

   https://mcp.hireflix.com/mcp
   

   Click Continue.

   
3. Keep the default connection settings

   Claude detects how to connect to Hireflix and pre-fills the authentication settings (Sign in now and Register automatically). Leave them as they are and click Add.

   
4. Click Connect

   Claude opens the Hireflix connector page, which tells you you’re not connected to Hireflix yet. You can always find this page again under Settings → Customize → Connectors, in the Yours list. Click Connect to start linking your account. This opens a connection request on Hireflix. If you’re not logged in to Hireflix yet, log in first.

   
5. Allow Claude to access your account

   Hireflix shows what Claude will be able to do. Click Allow to give it access. This lets Claude:

   • Access your Hireflix account using your current permissions.
   • Read and manage positions, candidates, interviews, and webhooks.
   • Keep access while your session and permissions remain valid.

   

That’s it, you’re connected. Next, try it out.

Fine-tune tool permissions (optional)

In Claude, go to Settings → Customize → Connectors, switch to Yours, and open Hireflix to choose exactly which tools Claude may use. Tools are split into Read-only tools and Write/delete tools, and for each tool you can pick:

• Always allow: Claude uses the tool without asking.
• Ask permission: Claude asks you before every use. This is the default for every tool.
• Block: Claude can’t use the tool at all.

You can change a single tool, or a whole group at once using the dropdown next to the group name.

Want Claude to look things up but never change anything? Set Read-only tools to always allow, and block the Write/delete tools (or leave them on ask permission). Claude can then browse positions and interviews freely, but can’t create or update positions, invite candidates, or change interview stages without you.

ChatGPT / Codex

ChatGPT and Codex use the same interface, so these steps work for both.

1. Open the Plugins page

   Click Customize in the left menu (1), then Plugins (2). Click the Add button in the top right (3) and choose Add custom MCP server (4).

   
2. Enter the server details

   Fill in the form:

   • Name: Hireflix

   • Description (optional): One-way video interview

   • Connection: keep Server URL selected and enter the MCP server URL:

     https://mcp.hireflix.com/mcp
     

   • Authentication: OAuth

   Don’t click Create as a plugin yet. Click Advanced OAuth settings first.

   
3. Remove the extra OIDC scopes

   Don’t skip this step. If you leave any other scopes in the list, the connection to Hireflix fails.

   With Advanced OAuth settings open (1), scroll all the way down in the pane on the right to OIDC scopes supported (2). Remove everything from the list except these two scopes:

   openid
   offline_access
   

   Leave the other settings as they are.

   
4. Create the plugin

   Check I understand and want to continue, then click Create as a plugin (3 in the screenshot above).

5. Click Connect Hireflix

   ChatGPT asks you to connect Hireflix. Read the information about how your data is shared, then click Connect Hireflix. ChatGPT redirects you to Hireflix.

   
6. Allow ChatGPT to access your account

   If you’re not logged in to Hireflix yet, log in first. Hireflix then shows what ChatGPT will be able to do for your organization. Click Allow to give it access. This lets ChatGPT:

   • Access your Hireflix account using your current permissions.
   • Read and manage positions, candidates, interviews, and webhooks.
   • Keep access while your session and permissions remain valid.

   
7. Check that the plugin is installed

   Hireflix now appears under Installed in the Customize menu (1). Open it and click Try now (2). This opens a new chat with Hireflix already tagged.

   

That’s it, you’re connected. Next, try it out.

Try it out

Start a new chat and ask something simple to check that the connection works:

Using the Hireflix MCP, can you list all positions in my account?

In ChatGPT or Codex, the chat you opened with Try now already has Hireflix tagged, so you only need to type your question. To confirm that write access works too, follow up with a small change, such as renaming a position.

Example prompts

Once that works, you can ask about your positions, interviews, and candidates, for example:

• “Which interviews for the <position name> position are completed but not yet evaluated?”
• “Give me interview stats per stage (pending, to evaluate, shortlisted, discarded) for each of my positions.”
• “Summarize the answers from the latest completed interview for the <position name> position.”
• “Fetch the transcriptions for all interviews for the <position name> position.”
• “Can you analyze the responses for all interviews for the <position name> position and give me a rating for each, based on which candidate you think is best for our company?”
• “Invite <firstname> <lastname> <email> to the <position name> position.”
• “Shortlist the interview from <candidate name> and give it a score of 4.”

Creating positions

To create a position through the MCP, use the position template from the Claude skill tutorial. It works the same with any AI tool. Copy it, fill it in, attach any intro, outro, or question videos, and send it to your AI tool. The template follows the same input schema Hireflix expects, so your AI tool knows exactly which fields are required and what the character limits are.
