# Inviting Candidates

> The three ways to invite candidates to a Hireflix interview, and when to use each.

There are three ways to invite candidates to an interview in Hireflix:

1. **Individually**: add one candidate at a time from the position page.
2. **In bulk**: import a CSV or Excel file with all your candidates.
3. **Through a public link**: share one link that any candidate can use to start the interview.

The first two create a **unique link per candidate**, because you enter their details. With the public link, **candidates enter their own details**. Pick the option that matches how many candidates you have and whether you already have their contact details.

## Which option should I use?

## 1. Invite candidates one by one

Enter a candidate's name, email, and phone number on the position page and click **Invite Candidate**. Hireflix emails them a unique interview link.

**Pros**

* Quick for a few candidates. You don't need to prepare a file.
* Each candidate gets a personal link that only they can use.
* Hireflix knows who sent the invite, so [completion notifications](/user/messages/completion-notifications) go to you.

**Cons**

* Manual, so it doesn't scale beyond a handful of candidates.

**Use it when** you're inviting a few shortlisted candidates, for example after a screening call.

## 2. Import candidates in bulk (CSV/Excel)

Upload a CSV or Excel file, match its columns to Hireflix fields, preview the result, and invite everyone at once. Each candidate still gets their own unique link.

**Pros**

* Invites dozens or hundreds of candidates in one go.
* Each candidate still gets a personal, unique link.
* The preview catches formatting errors before anyone is invited.

**Cons**

* You need a clean file: email is mandatory, and phone numbers must use the `+X XXXXXXXXX` format.
* You still need your candidates' contact details up front.

**Use it when** you already have a list of candidates, for example an export from your ATS, a job fair, or a spreadsheet.

## 3. Share a public link

Enable the public link on a position and share it anywhere. Candidates open the link, fill in their own details, and start the interview right away, without waiting for an invitation. You can make candidates verify their email address or require a phone number before they start.

**Pros**

* You don't need any candidate details up front.
* One link works for everyone: put it in a job ad, on your careers page, on social media, or behind your own application form.
* No extra work per candidate, no matter how many apply.

**Cons**

* Anyone with the link can apply, so you have less control over who takes the interview.
* Candidates type in their own details, which can lead to typos. Verification helps here.
* Hireflix can't tell who on your team invited the candidate, so [completion notifications](/user/messages/completion-notifications#ats-integrations-public-links-api-and-automations) go to the account owner/admin by default.

**Use it when** you want candidates to apply on their own, for example for high-volume or open roles.
